Michigan is facing a budget crisis of epic proportion in 2007. The anticipated to be another $500 million off next year; and the Single Business Tax (SBT) worth $1.2 billion to the state, will expire at the end of the year.  The three legs of the stool; the House, the Senate, and the Governor have thus far been unable to negotiate a solution to anything.  At this juncture, there have been so many tax proposals tossed around, it is difficult to even keep track of them.

What is MDVA's response to this crisis?  Our response has been to ratchet up our level of legislative activity to an all-time high.  We have sent out press releases, held media events, brought legislators into our businesses, and made personal visits to all 148 members of the Michigan legislature.  Our members have met personally with their legislators, participated in their local fundraising events, and traveled to Lansing to talk to lawmakers.  We are aggressively fighting to protect our business and industries from any increase in taxation and regulation.
